The Demon's Lexicon (Demon's Lexicon Trilogy Book #1) by Sarah Rees Brennan - We have an interview with Sarah Rees Brennan right here
Nick and his older brother Alan are demon slayers; they use swords and magic to fight evil and protect their mother, a witch driven mad by magicians. The three of them are constantly on the move as they hunt and are hunted by demons and magicians. Though troubled by his feelings toward his mother, Nick has no doubt about the love and loyalty he feels toward his brother Alan. A brother and sister arrive needing protection from a demon, and Nick and Alan are forced to make difficult and dangerous choices in order to protect them. As they search for the demon attacking the brother and sister, Nick finds out that his beloved brother has been lying to him about their family's past. The circle of magicians closes in on the two sets of siblings, the danger intensifies, and Nick uncovers a secret that could cost them all their lives.
The Demon's Covenant (Demon's Lexicon Trilogy Book #2) by Sarah Rees Brennan (Dark Fantasy) We have an interview with Sarah Rees Brennan right here
This second entry in The Demon's Lexicon trilogy is as riveting as the first, in spite of middle-book syndrome. The focus has shifted to Mae, Jamie's sister, who needs demon-hunting brothers Nick and Alan's help again. The Obsidian Circle magicians, under Gerald's leadership, are trying to recruit Jamie. Also, since Mae knows Nick's true nature, she's looking for a human boyfriend. Unfortunately, Seb, Jamie's former tormenter, has the inside track before Alan speaks up. Still, ever present in her awareness is Nick, the demon brother who asks her to help him become more human. An aborted visit to Alan's family has caused a rift between the brothers, a rift Mae is determined to heal. She will not let Alan strip Nick of his powers, not when that will leave both brothers at the mercy of Gerald and his crew. Mae returns to the Goblin Market to dance again (great cover) and discovers she has powers she was unaware of before, for leadership and battle plans. The Aventurine Circle also makes its move, so there's lots of action and bloody battles with magicians, as well as clever repartee and the sturm and drang of the teen years. This is an excellent paranormal romance with an intriguing demon hero trying hard to make sense of the human world that most of his opponents feel he will destroy. Who needs vampires and zombies when there are sexy demons to contend with? This reviewer can't wait for the conclusion to the cliff-hanger ending.
The Demon's Surrender (Demon's Lexicon Trilogy Book #3) by Sarah Rees Brennan - (Dark Fantasy) We have an interview with Sarah Rees Brennan right here
No summary on this one because it hasn't come out yet.
The Demon's Surrender is the thrilling and suspenseful conclusion to the Demon's Lexicon trilogy.

White Cat (Curse Workers, Book 1)
by Holly Black
Cassel comes from a family of curse workers - people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, by the slightest touch of their hands. And since curse work is illegal, they're all mobsters, or con artists. Except for Cassel. He hasn't got the magic touch, so he's an outsider, the straight kid in a crooked family. You just have to ignore one small detail - he killed his best friend, Lila, three years ago.
Ever since, Cassel has carefully built up a façade of normalcy, blending into the crowd. But his façade starts crumbling when he starts sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams about a white cat that wants to tell him something. He's noticing other disturbing things, too, including the strange behavior of his two brothers. They are keeping secrets from him, caught up in a mysterious plot. As Cassel begins to suspect he's part of a huge con game, he also wonders what really happened to Lila. Could she still be alive? To find that out, Cassel will have to out-con the conmen.
Holly Black has created a gripping tale of mobsters and dark magic where a single touch can bring love - or death - and your dreams might be more real than your memories.

Rocket Boys by Homer Hickam
Rocket Boys (The Coalwood Series #1)
![]()
Inspired by Werner von Braun and his Cape Canaveral team, 14-year-old Homer Hickam decided in 1957 to build his own rockets. They were his ticket out of Coalwood, West Virginia, a mining town that everyone knew was dying--everyone except Sonny's father, the mine superintendent and a company man so dedicated that his family rarely saw him. Hickam's smart, iconoclastic mother wanted her son to become something more than a miner and, along with a female science teacher, encouraged the efforts of his grandiosely named Big Creek Missile Agency. He grew up to be a NASA engineer and his memoir of the bumpy ride toward a gold medal at the National Science Fair in 1960--an unprecedented honor for a miner's kid--is rich in humor as well as warm sentiment. Hickam vividly evokes a world of close communal ties in which a storekeeper who sold him saltpeter warned, "Listen, rocket boy. This stuff can blow you to kingdom come."
Unleashed by Kristopher Reisz
Daniel Morning, son of working-class parents, shoulders a heavy load due to his family's high expectations. He works hard at school but his SATs aren't stellar, and his parents insist on having him classified as ADD so that he can take an untimed test to improve his score. He gets into Cornell, but it burns him knowing that he enjoyed an unfair advantage and he regrets his decision to go along with his parents' wishes. Then he meets biracial and dangerously sexy Misty, who has a tough-girl attitude that intrigues him. Very quickly they become a couple and he learns what she and her friends do in the old abandoned furnace night after night: they eat magic mushrooms and turn into wolves that roam the city, marking their territory as they go.
Chia Black Dragon Series by Stephen Marley
First of the Chia Black Dragon series, Spirit Mirror is, compared to the other novels, the nearest to a conventional fantasy. That said, this dark fantasy set in Han dynasty China already possesses most of the elements that make up Stephen’s sub-genre which he dubbed ‘Chinese Gothic’.
Chia, a beautiful woman who possesses an immense lifespan from her non-human father (whom she murdered) is introduced as a lesbian, part-demon, sometime vampire! In this tale, Chia is lured by her unhinged and deadly brother into releasing beings from a mirror dimension in his attempt to corrupt the newly-laid roots of Buddhism in China.Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Richard Mayhew, learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished. He ceases to exist in the ordinary world of London Above, and joins a quest through the dark and dangerous London Below, a shadow city of lost and forgotten people, places, and times. His companions are Door, who is trying to find out who hired the assassins who murdered her family and why; the Marquis of Carabas, a trickster who trades services for very big favors; and Hunter, a mysterious lady who guards bodies and hunts only the biggest game. London Below is a wonderfully realized shadow world, and the story plunges through it like an express passing local stations, with plenty of action and a satisfying conclusion.
